Australia has always been a must visit as part of this journey. The question was how would we get there. In jest back in May, Marcelo said, maybe there is a cruise that does it. I looked it up and found one, with a pretty amazing deal from San Francisco to Sydney, right around the time of year we were considering travelling. We didn't know how the budget was doing, and we were really only fantasizing. Fast forward to August, we still hadn't booked our tickets o Australia. We wanted to visit some of the pacific islands as well, and the price of flights just wasn't adding up. The options were either fly to Australia via New Zealand, or look into this cruise thing again.

Tickets were still available, and still (relatively affordable). One of the hardest decisions for me is spending a big chunk of money in one go. At 2500 for both of us to travel for 27 days - Hawaii, Tahiti, Bora Bora, American Samoa, New Zealand, Sydney, all food and entertainment included, how could we not do it. After chatting to several people on board we decided we got a really good deal. In the UK it was being sold at upwards of 5000.

The first 5 days were sea days, which was perfectly fine by me. Sight seeing can become really tiring, making decisions all the time - what will we see next? Where will we eat? We can't afford to eat that etc....It's nice to be able to choose what you want off a menu, go to the theatre or the spa, go to the gym and to meet new people.

If you have the chance to do it, try a cruise.
