We could not visit Vancouver without a trip on that famous ferry over to Vancouver Island. One of the most scenic ferry routes you can imagine.
We took the skytrain from Vancouver to Bridgeport and then the city bus to Tsawwassen Ferry terminal. We bought walk on passenger tickets which wasn't expensive. We then got the city bus in Swartz Bay and first went to Sidney (on advice). It is a very quaint little sea side town. By sure our favourite part was seeing a seal hanging out by the fishmongers which was situated one of the piers, waiting for them to throw her tit bits.
It was also interesting to see all the washed up timber on the beach. I guess it makes sense as beyond Vancouver Island is the vast expanse of the pacific and whatever she carries with her. Also in 2006 (I forgot to mention this in my Vancouver blog) Vancouver had a terrible storm which downed 10000 trees in Stanley park. I'm sure some of these ended up on the shore lines of Vancouver Island too.
