Marcelo and I made our way via greyhound to Banff, a little town in the middle of the Alberta Rockies. We really felt the loss of not driving here as there were so many wonderful things to do in the area. The lakes and glaciers to mention but a few. Unfortunately the confines of public transport limit options due to time constrictions. Guess it leaves another thing to do in the future. It was my mum's cousin Lisa who insisted I go to Banff, so glad she did. It is such an inviting little town with so much to offer in terms of outdoor activities. 
We opted to climb Sulphur mountain in the end. It's about 3.5 miles up the mountain - made harder by the lack of oxygen due to altitude. We managed it in about 2.5 hours up and 2 hours back down (it was raining on the way down). The views from the top were breath taking (not just because of the lack of oxygen). We saw plenty of wildlife from the top too - chipmunks, squirrels and marmots in particular. Still no bears much to Marcelo's disappointment.
