Marcelo and I visited Pam and Roupe in Sandwich Cape Cod (named for Sandwich in Kent). I mentioned before we visited Matthew in Washington DC, well Pam is Matthew's sister. Pam and her husband Roupe were simply the perfect hosts. They welcomed us into their home and ended up with a place in our hearts. Pam took us all over the Cape, as you will see in the up coming blogs. This blog is specifically about Sandwich, which was a Puritan and then a Quaker town.
Cape Cod is an idyllic seaside area, houses made of wood with Ceder shingles (which are resistant to decay and infestation due to it's natural qualities). They are so quaint. Sandwich is a very well kept pretty town.

Cape Cod was formed by glaciers advancing and receding forming sandbanks, due to this ecology, the sandbanks are constantly shifting as the cape is right on the North Atlantic ocean and can be subject to some quite intense storms. As such, the people have been trying to conserve the sand dunes and plant grasses and refill beaches which have had their sand washed away.

Particular points of interest were the Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen, and the Glass Studio. Sandwich's industry was traditionally in making Glass, however the original factory has ling since closed. They have a new glass studio which is a lot of fun to see.

Enjoy the photos and videos.
