We couldn't come to Florida without doing the theme Parks. As I have done Disney already and as it's a bit more pricey, we decided to do Universal Sudios, Universal's Island of Adventures and Wet and Wild - whose ticket was good for a week, so we went there twice.
Marcelo wasn't so keen on Universal Studios, although the ride at the entrance was cool as you could choose your own theme music to listen to as you were hurled around the ride. There you have the twister experience, Disaster movie (where members of the audience can be a part of the movie), the mummy coaster, the Simpsons ride - which is a pretty cool 3d roller coaster ride where your seat moves too. The animal show, which features animals used in the movies such as Frank (the dog from men in Black). They had the Shrek 4d show where when Shrek sneezes the audience gets sprayed with drops of water. The Men in Black ride where you can shoot aliens (a bit like playing bumper cars and laser quest at the same time). They had a cute 'Stars Parade' at the end of the day, which for sure doesn't match disney's but it was nice. The reason Marcelo wasn't so keen on this park was the lack of big coasters.  It's more a theme park for those interested in how movies are made and for those impressed by special effects than those out to be thrilled.
The second day we went to Universal's Island of Adventures, now this was right up our street. First hit by the Hulk rollercoaster which just throws you around all over the show, the spiderman ride is great - it's kind of a roller coaster and a 3d movie and you get sprayed with water and wind. Also Harry Potter world is amazing - you really do feel like you are in the movie when you are there. They have a couple of good dragon coasters and the Hogwarts ride is again 3d/hollograms and on a hydrolic arm to make you feel like you are flying on a broom stick around the castle. We did it 3 times and I got a bit dizzy. I tried butterbear - which tastes like a cream soda float to me. Also the Jurassic Park ride was great - it was kind of their version of the river raft ride in other theme parks except with dinosaurs popping up. I have added a nice video of that one, which is worth watching through to the end even though the beginning is a bit slow. So I've just realised I should stop going on about rides. Out of the two parks, if you can only do one, Universal Island of Adventures is a must and if you can do it out of season it is well worth the short queues.
Also, if you are staying on International Drive, not to far away from the tourist shops, just a bit off the tourist track you can find Whole Food Markets and Walmarts, you don't need to shop at Walgreens all the time, as the choice is poor and expensive.
