Our last port of call before returning to solid ground was Punta del Este in Uruguay, famous for it's sandy beaches and some fingers that stick out of one of them.

It is very much a sun lovers paradise, beautiful apartments sandy beaches stretching all the way around the peninsula and a harbor with luxury yachts, no industrial port as the cruise ship uses it's lifeboats to ferry passengers to shore. We even found a store with Lindor (40 for a box) and HP sauce (10 a bottle). Needless to say I did not indulge the yearnings for a little bit of UK at those prices.

The funny thing about being on a cruise ship is when you get to solid ground it feels like you are still at sea, you feel more at sea than when you are at sea. It makes you walk in a way you look drunk. We all felt a little like this at Punta.

One thing we all noticed however about Uruguay in general was that the people are a bit stand off ish. They come across as a bit cold, or fed up with tourists. Just to point out, this is not everybody and is more true for Punta del Este than Montevideo.
