Today I'll visit the famous Batur volcano at Kintamani area. We drove from Sanur through By Pass and villages with stop at Tohpati to see how they produce Batik and Tenun Ikat fabrics, at Celuk for silver and gold jewellry, at Mas for wood carvings (the statues are SO HUGE!!! And the carving is so fine with a very good quality of work and wood), then I add some itinerary by my own, visit the Bali Bird Park! My goodness, the birds are so beautifull and everywhere! Inside the cage, free walking at the garden, swimming at the pools, and even sometimes we have to visit them inside the cage! After a nice bird's free flight show at 11 am, we move up to the mountain for the lunch. I can't believed my eyes... the view is spectacular! We were at the very edge of the old crater (the eruption was about 30.000 - 40.000 years ago!). I decided not to have a lunch at the edge of crater but inside the crater! We drove for another half an hour to reach the Toya Bungkah area, and we had a nice lunch at the local restaurant - Devashaya, with 2 plunge pools with warm spring water and the other one olimpic sized pool with cold spring water. Lunch was delicious, pools were just perfect to relax in :) in the quite chilly mountain weather.
On the way back we stoped over at BAS Coffee tasting, we didn't test the Balinese coffe only, but cacao, ginger tea, lemon grass tea, and gingseng coffe as well! They have their own way to rost the coffee beans, with some traditional way and even they packed it themselves. A lot of spices, like safron, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamone, pepper, Balinese dried chilli, star anise, ginger, vanilla, etc. Even they have a lot of massage oils, burn oils, and parfume. And a lot of other things that I even can't remember all. All the way long we had nice view of green trees, traditional villages with typical Balinese architecture, rice paddy terraces, bamboo, Balinese oranges, Jack fruit trees, flowers, durian trees, how Balinese living, attending the ceremony at the village temples, growing the rice, children going to school, even we have been so lucky to witness the Balinese wedding!
Then we went back to Sanur, at 6 pm we were at Sanur. So the trip was for about 9 hours including swimming! What a nice trip!
