We drove back down the track to the main road and continued this amazing drive through Montana which we are falling for big time.... It is so beautiful here. We swam in a lake near the road and it was so clear and perfect you wouldn't believe it.
Eventually the road led us to Hungry Horse Dam where we were going to find a spot to camp. This is another beautiful dammed lake which is used heavily for recreation. There are heaps of campsites all around the area but we found a free one again up in the forest. These places are not that easy to find but if you persevere like Steve, you can be rewarded with the most stunning locations, which is what we found this time. We were right by a creek and surrounded by mountains and pine trees, and hopefully not too many Grizzly bears. The photos with this page will help you to imagine how amazing it is here. We had a campfire in a little fire ring that someone else made with rocks all round it, next to the stream.
It was perfect.
