Saturday 2nd August

Stacey and James (Stacey the dental nurse is now actually dating Jason but no-one in the surgery is supposed to know about it) invited us back in the morning to try a real American cooked breakfast - in fact Jason wanted us to try his father's speciality of "Jim Roan" eggs!  We had absolutely no idea what it was but we were all having such a nice time together that it really didn't matter!

We arranged to be there at 8.30 am and the least Steve and I could do was to provide the eggs - and he needed about 20!  Fortunately we had enough.

As I am sure that you are dying to know what "Jim Roan Eggs" actually is, well it was maple flavoured sausage meat all mixed up with egg and maybe onions? I can't quite remember but it was delicious and especially mixed with chopped strawberries and bananas and maple syrup. Of course we had coffee and orange juice and it was really lovely eating it out on their deck by the lake. What a life!

Then we all went out on the boat again as Jason was keen to see Holly finally master water skiing. She tried so hard and was so keen to do it but then her hands got really sore and it was really time to leave. After the kids did another round on the biscuit we finally had to stop and pack up. They were heading to Billings to see family and we really felt we had stayed long enough without completely intruding on them.  I was feeling sore and swollen but Jason seemed happy that I was going to be OK so we said goodbye to them all and left with an open invitation for them to come to NZ!

We drove into Helena one last time to get food, dump the waste, check the email and finally left town at about 4pm.

We drove down highway 12 heading west, up over a pass and on up to Swan Lake which was beautiful towards Glacier National Park.

We free-camped in the National Forest up a gravel road that Steve wanted to explore. It was a very peaceful spot and we all flopped down to watch a movie on the laptop.
