Monday 2nd June

We woke early and set off to find a spot to have our breakfast and have a shower (in the van). We found a small town called Van Burren with a river running through it.  We stopped in the park by the river. It was still quite misty as it was early. However the sun soon came out and it got very hot.  After a nice breakfast we all had a shower and felt much better. Holly, Zach and Steve found snakes in the river, a tortoise and some tadpoles.  We thought about having a swim in the river but the snakes put us off a bit... can you blame us?

We got lost in a place called Poplar Bluff trying to find somewhere to dump all our shower water. We gave up and stopped in Dexter at an RV sales place to ask where we might find a dumping station.  We were feeling a bit fed up by this time as we couldn't find what we needed and there seemed to be no visitors centres anywhere either that might have helped.

The owner of the RV shop was amazingly helpful. Not only did he have a part we have been looking for since we started in Vancouver (for the TV Arial), but he helped us out by letting us use his dump station that is not for public use. We were so grateful to this man and we won't forget his kindness. He directed us to the Dexter City Park where we were able to have lunch, Zach went on his bike and Steve and Zach played a bit of basketball.

We crossed the Mississippi river twice on 2 bridges that were very narrow, or they felt narrow in our van- especially when a massive truck came the other way!
Steve was sweating when we reached the other side!  It's a BIG river too.

We over-nighted in a place called Paducah again at Walmart .

That's such an awesome trip.
Even though you get lost and can't find out how to dump your shower water, you're still accomplishing an amazing feat! Keep it up.
