We left San Diego early today and drove towards Las Vegas. We would have liked to have spent more time there as it had a nice feel but we were a bit tired of cities.
We drove out for some miles on the I 15 heading towards Las Vegas. It was starting to get alloy warmer. We were heading towards a State Park we had seen in our camping guide but stumbled across a cheaper one further along. Near a place called Hesperia, which is about half way between LA and Vegas.
It was hot and windy here and the camp was deserted. The ranger here told us to watch out for snakes, in particular the Diamond Back RattleSnake!
We flew our kite that we were given as it was very windy. It was the first real experience of the beginnings of the desert.
Steve had to flush the tanks out here as they seem to be registering full even though they are not so we did that. We also spent quite a lot of time cycling around .
We made friends with a dog too that came trotting down the path. I was convinced it was a coyote and told everyone to stay away from it, but it turned out to be a domestic dog that seemed to just be craving some attention. He eventually went away when it got dark but reappeared the following morning.
