This morning we got up and went for a swim in the local pool. The kids were happy as there was a wave pool. We had a family shower and then went Ice Skating - a first for Holly and Zach - lots of fun but tiring.

We decided to get the tyres checked before the big trip and we had one replaced We also had an value extension installed so we could pump-up the inside tyres of the back pair and we got the engine oil changed at the same time.

We then set off for the US border, feeling quite nervous and unsure what to expect.  We waited in a queue of cars for about 40 mins until we reached the front where we were met by an officer who asked us a couple of questions and then inevitably we were asked to pull over and walk into the immigration office.

We were seen to by the nicest man I have ever met at the US immigration. He was so warm and friendly and interested in what we are doing.  He even tried to extend our 90 day visa but could not in the end!  Another officer also got chatting to us and started suggesting places to go!  It was very different to how I imagined we would be treated! Very different to arriving by air!  We also had to pay an immigration fee which was $6 each.

He said we should be able to re-enter the States again for another 90 days as long as we leave before 21st July for a couple of days.  He also said not to be late leaving otherwise they may not let us back in again!

We left there about 3.30pm and drove south on the I-5 to Mount Vernon which is not a particularly memorable spot but we found an RV park to go to and relax and do some laundry. We even got hooked up to cable so we could watch some TV that was even more rubbishy than in NZ!
