Friday

We got up early and went to a local wave pool for a swim and shower. Then we travelled out of town a little to purchase a bike carrier and finally we drove over to the Insurance office again to Insure and get our Licence Plates.

You would think that this would have been easy to sort-out via State Insurance - but think again. The various State employee's we contacted promised to help - some even sent faxes BUT none of them could get it right. After many emails, very expensive telephone calls and another days waiting we had to finally give-up and pay the full premium (we did manage to only pay for 6 months only). We have been promised that when the right documentation arrives at the Insurance office we will be reimbursed but this could take months. You can guess what we will be doing when we get home about State Insurance - we have been insured with them on and off for 30 years - the house, contents, cars, business, business cars and even our travel insurance is with State. State Insurance was CRAP! Insurance companies sell "Piece of mind" and customers get this only by "trusting" their insurance company - we have lost all trust in State - we had so many people at State Insurance promise to deal with our problem and they did NOTHING. Sorry that's enough ranting from me - but it was a stressful time!! PS to this the Insurance Broker here in Vancouver was FANTASTIC and couldn't have been more helpful (I was embarrassed to be associated with such a terrible NZ Insurance company)

We headed back to the van, put on the licence plates, replaced some bulbs, brake and indicator but decided not to move off as we were so tired and by this time it was dark. We slept our first, rather cold night in the van.
