The next day I got back on the boat and headed for my destination of Luangprabang.  Once again the boat ride was full of brilliant scenery and happy times.  The city is set right on the Mekong and is filled with French influence.  While walking through this beautiful city one minute you're in Asia and the next you're transported to a lovely European looking alleyway.  I saw a lot of cool temple in the city and climbed up to the top of Mount Pousi, which is the mountain in the center of town that has a couple temples on top and offers stunning views of the city and surrounding area.

I also went to a really sweet waterfall just outside of town where they have bears and a tiger.  A torrential downpour started while we were hiking up to the waterfall so we all got soaked, as well as my passport, wallet and self respect, but a really nice Italian dude let me put my stuff in his waterproof backpack so it was cool.  We got to the waterfall dripping wet and the Italian dude and I looked up a saw a trail leading to the top, which no one was going on because of the rain.  We looked at each other and said f-it lets do it.  So we went to the top of the thing and I'll never forget it, a truly liberating experience.  On our way back in to town we stopped at a small Mhong village and played around with the little kids for a while.  They were so cute and we all bought little bracelets from them.
