What do Matt Damon and the Manic Trip have in common? No, not only good looks…. THE PAPARAZZI

18.12. Bertha is rolling with a moderate 70kmh over the German Autobahn. The effect is nearly comical as the latest Porsche and BMW zoom past us with 280kmh…but, as yet there is no need for speed and we enjoy the last moments of Africa-time. Snow has started to fall and the windscreen wipers work hard to clear the icy view. As we turn a corner Marvin's parents’ house, and our home for the next while, comes into sight. We pull up into the driveway ready to ring the bell. Suddenly I am blinded by a brilliant white light. Being African heart and soul I panic and think this must be the dreaded snow blindness. A deep voice asks me to smile for the camera and speak into the mike – I open my eyes and squint into the journalist’s face. Click – more bright light! Alas, our moment of fame has arrived. Interviews and more photos follow. The crowd that showers us with hugs, kisses and questions is not only media but consists mostly of old friends and family who have taken the day off to welcome us home. We drink Gluehwein and bubbly, whilst around us the world turns into a brilliant white landscape. Welcome home!

What a trip! We were able to make a lifetime of memories in a matter of months. Strangers became friends. Foreign cultures open up their mysteries and each day was a wonderful present from God – saying: enjoy, this is the world I have created. And enjoy we did! Each day and (nearly) ever moment!

Thank you for the endless support, encouragement, advice, ideas, laughs and prayers. We would not be here without them!

May you all have a wonderful Christmas and a joyous and adventurous new year. Dreams are there to be lived! May you live yours.

We wish you God’s richest blessing and His endless peace.

Yours Manic
