We left home at 3.30am after a 4hr nap all excited and ready to go. The flight from Perth To Sydney gained time and we arrived 1/2hr early which gave us hope that the long flight might too, it didn't. I had never seen the A380 up close before, they are enormous with two levels of seating. The plane was full with only 3 empty seats. The journey was better than I had hoped for, the seats had more room than in the smaller planes and a lot of movies to choose from. The children around us were very good and there was no one hacking & coughing (always a bonus).

Santa Monica was lovely, lots of similar plants as in  Perth. After dropping our bags we went for a walk to the Pier then into "downtown". The last stop for the afternoon was at a Mexican bar where we each had a giant Margarita. We walked about 5km that afternoon that helped us to sleep well that night. Day 2 we walked in the other direction stopping for breakfast, checked out the Tao healing center where we booked a massage for the afternoon and enjoyed a drink at a lovely bar. Another 3km walk by the time we got back to our room for a nap. Back at the healing center for 3.15 where we enjoyed a shiatsu massage, amazing! Next we headed to The Galley (steak & seafood) for an early dinner. The day before I said to Martin we have to find an Italian place that does Gluten free pasta and what was on the menu at the Galley, you guessed it, Gluten free pasta and it was so good with fish, prawns & clams. That was a gentle 2km return trip, we managed to walk 10km on our rest & recovery days.
