So we only had 2 days in Iguassu so after arriving off our 65 hour bus journey we checked in had breakfast showered then headed out for the day - shattered wasnt the word but we powered on !!!!!!
So Iguassu falls are on two parts - one half on the Brazil side and the other on the Argentina side - since we were in Brazil we decided to do the Argentina side first as we were leaving tomorrow on the 5pm bus so we figured get the furthest one out of the way first.
We set off and the heat was unreal again around 38C it was stifling - from the hostel we got on a bus to the brazil border where we stamped out again and then another bus to the Argentina side - and another bus to get to the falls !
The Devils Throat
We get into the park and head to the apparent best bit called devils throat - we got on a wee train to take us there and then walk for a bit across the river - it was beautiful but we were sweating and tired. We fianally got to the view point and WOW I am not sure if its because we had no expectations or because we were shattered haha but my goodness we were literarlly standing feet away on these platforms right over the top of this giant hole where gallons and gallons of water were pouring in - we just stood there with our mouth's hanging open it was utterly amazing, its great to be travelling all this time and have seen so many things and still find sights that absolutely blow you away - the glacier in El Calafate was the same for both of us. We just stood for ages and huge mist was coming up from inside and it was wetting us it was great as we were roasting. We got some video too check them out below.
The Boat Trip from Hell
We then got the train half way back down to do the "boat trip", I had seen this online and its not really my thing seeing as I am not a huge fan of water haha but I was about to fall asleep with tiredness and I was absolutely roasting so the prospect of getting a bit wet was quite appealing
We turned a corner and there it was and before I had time to think I was in a life jacket walking onto this speedboat.
Well what can I say it was utterly crazy getting a little wet was a understatement jesus christ I couldnt believe how far under the falls they were actually putting you (not the main ones these are other ones further round) but the power of the water and it was cold so it took your breath away....or was that my screaming I dont know. We were drenched you couldnt really open your eyes there was that much water - talk about out of my comfort zone haha - if I couldnt see how the fook could the driver see through the god dam waterfall !!!!!! Anyway I got back safe and yes it was amazing and yes I had cooled down and was now very awake haha - check out the video Marc took of it below - I was holding on for dear life haha
Dinner and some Xmas Carols
We eventually got out of the park and back into Foz de Iguassu around 9pm and we were starving - where we got off the bus for our hostel there was a huge stage up with christmas carol singers, littles xmas hut shops and all these kids lining up to see Santa - it was the first proper time it felt like xmas so we sat and had a nice dinner and a giant beer tower thing - we deserved it !
We had now decided tomorrow would be a lazy day by the pool we were not going to bother to visit the Brazil side, everyone says that the Argentina side was better and we had a great day also after the money we spent today it was good choice to sit on our backsides and save some money before our 17 hour bus to Florianapolis tomorrow night !
