Just a quick note on PP -- but I think I wrote enough today (trying to play catch-up)
PP's charm is in the french colonial architecture, scattered around. The riverfront is loaded with tourists, and we found the FCC (Foreign Correspondents Club) and enjoyed the street and riverfront activities below from the 3rd adn 4th floors (we went back).
PP is also home to the Silver Pagoda ($3 admission, $2 to take photos). It is famous for the silver tiles on the floor and a lovely crystal Buddha .. and another Buddha in that Wat with over 2000 diamonds decorating it.
Our chosen guest house was across the street from Toul Sleng Museum - a once "detention" center (formerly a high school) of the Khmer Rouge in the late 70s .. I think 7 people survived of 17,000 (?)
