We took a dissappointing train ride from Hoi An to Nha Trang, on the South China Sea. The train ride, in our minds, was most likely over romanticized as well. The reality hit hard. Our first class, soft seats coach was, in reality, a hardship on many senses. I'll stick with the higlight of loud, no, LOUD - 80's music, Rap and then hours of Viet Pop blaring over distorted speakers for the 10 hour train ride. This was supplemtned with TVs showing equally disorted, partially black and white, videos. We left to hang out in the food cart and did Mad-libs for most of the trip (yes, that's how desparate we were).

Ok, but let's talk about beautiful sandy beaches! In Nha Trang we rented beach lounge chairs for less than a dollar (a bit pricey, eh?) to have some security against the hawkers going up and down the beach selling trinkets and food. For most of the day two or three ladies parked themselves out front with pots of little crab and lobster legs hanging out (to let people know what they are selling, but I thought the crabs we're attempting escape...) We also rented bicyles and enjoyed seeing the large city with ease, and a breeze in our hair - it's really too hot to walk!

Then on to awesome, and quiet Mui Ne. Our hotel was right on the beach, and with only 18 rooms, nice and peaceful (this is also low season) We enjoyed long walks on the beach in the mornings without end and only a few local tourists swimming and the fishermen getting their catch from the nets. Spent much quality time under the shade of palm trees reading - I finished The House of Sand and Fog and Ernie finished The Quiet American.
