I’ve been really fortunate on this trip to be able to meet up with people that I’ve meet through travelling and it’s just so great. You never know if or when you are going to see these people again so it’s such a thrill when it happens. She took me to a little café for a coffee and it so reminded me of the cafes we have at home so cosy and homey. I wandered a little if this was all going to work, I’d never crashed at someones place before and I did only meet Karin 3.5 months ago and for only 12 days, but I had a good feeling about her and I wasn’t wrong. We talked about everything and anything. She likes to bake and as my mother can attest to is a sure way to win me over. She had apple cinnamon muffins which were really good and may have persuaded me try muffins other than chocolate chip and then she had to bake a banana cake for her tutoring group and there was some left over so I got to enjoy banana muffins topped with melted chocolate too – I think I have actually found an angel and I am in heaven.
This morning I was up early to catch my flight to Copenhagen. Mel had a later flight to Dublin so she was still asleep when I left. Travelling with someone is great but I also enjoy solo travel so I was looking forward to getting out on my own. Getting to the airport was easy, my flight was slightly delayed but nothing major. The couple sitting next to me were German who actually came 200km from Germany to Amsterdam to fly to Norway via Copenhagen because it was the closest airport – how strange is that to travel to a different country just to use the airport. They didn't speak much English but tried at least, they told me they were flying to Norway to see their son. The flight was really quick, maybe just over an hour. When I landed a had a 'welcome to Copenhagen’ text message from my friend Karin. We were arranging to meet at one of the central train stations, she had given me great direction on what train and ticket I needed which saved me a lot of time as the information queue was really long. As I was waited I got to people watch and as this was my first time in a Scandinavian country I really did notice that everyone was tall and so many people were blonde. I was beginning to worry if I would recognise Karin because I saw so many women who looked kind of looked like her but when she texted me to say where she was and I spotted her through the traffic I recognised her straight away.
