How many times have I said "as usual we were running late"?? Well today was another very close call.  We booked tickets on the Eurostar fast train from London to Paris.  We had to collect the tickets from the machine at the station.  We actually left the hostel on time but we grossly underestimated the time we needed.  When we arrived at the station we had 30 mins before the train was scheduled to leave.  At first we went to the wrong ticket machine then as we were walking to the Eurostar section we hear over the PA "This is the final call for the 1300 train to Paris" AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!  So with 25+ kgs strapped all over each of us we ran down the station to find where to collect the tickets.  Thankfully it wasn't that far and it was quick and easy.  Then it's directions to check in - I never even thought about checking in.  Again, we were lucky this was rather quick as was passport control.  We were on the train with about 10 mins to spare.  When we got to our seats we were both absolutely stuffed.

The train ride was only 2 hours.  I wasn't feeling the best and couldn't wait to get off the train.  We had a bit of trouble finding our apartment as we walked in the wrong direction from the train station, but once we got our bearings we find it pretty easily thanks to my pre-prepared map, but these backpacks are tough.  I have no idea sometimes how we carry them around but somehow we find the strength and energy.

The apartment is in a great location, right in the centre of Paris, 5 mins from the Louvre.  We went out for dinner in a typical French Cafe but obviously geared to tourists as the menu was in English too and the waitress spoke very good English. We got taking to a lovely couple from Texas, you just never know where and when you will met wonderful people and have a great conversation.

Hi girls, Glad that you made it to Paris, well I can tell you none of you take after me when it comes to get to the destination early, so you have plenty of time, I mean I wanted to leave home at 5.00 to the footy the other day and the game starts at 7.30 and really you can get there in 45 minutes, but that's me, no unnecassary stress. I hope that you are both healthy to really enjoy Paris. Have plenty of fun.

You take it to the other extreme, I'd be happy with a happy medium.

Thats why i like having a motorcycle, no schedules to follow, i leave when i'm ready, and my GPS ensures i don't get lost, and the bike carries the heavy bags.
But you are lucky, i've always wanted to take the Eurostar London-Paris.
How fast was it going?

yeah that would be nice. not sure on it's speed 200k maybe. I think the speed make me a little sick as i've been on trains for a long time before and never had motion sickness
