I spent my first night in my car last night! And that was an adventure in itself. I haven't written about this yet, but I built a bed/cabinet that converts into a finished table for my van, which has been so much fun! Great to have table space for cooking, eating, writing, drawing, etc (my van's living room/kitchen/dining room), and then turn it into a bedroom! It's a bit more awkward to convert back and forth now that there are things in it though... anyway, I made myself a great dinner of soup and salad, cleaned up, switched to bed mode, made my curtains, and was had just finished writing in my journal when a cop stopped and knocked on my window! I was a bit off of a back road about 200 feet from a real camp ground that costs money... and he wanted to make sure everything was okay. So, I came out of the back of my car to talk to him, and he asked if I needed anything. I said no, I was just sleeping here, and appologized for worrying him. He furrowed his brow a bit and said well, you're not really supposed to sleep here but I'm not going to make you move tonight. He said they'd be patrolling all night and wouldn't bother me. Yes!

However, I am a bit sick, had a sore throat and a runny nose, and it took forever to fall asleep, and I woke up every few hours, a bit creeped out from the dark. It reminded me of crawling around my parents' attic when I was little, where it's more or less a game of guts not to creep yourself out not being able to see.

In the morning, I discovered that I was right next to a beaauuutiful stretch of coastline and spent the whole morning scrambling over rocks and down hillsides. Made myself breakfast, bought a ton of smoked oysters, tuna and salmon at a local shop, and hit the road again! Oregon's back roads have been beautiful, but I'm heading back to I-5 to make better time toward California. I'm currently stopped in Grant's pass to charge electronics and then head out again!  Hoping to make it to California tonight, since a guy at the visitor center here said there may be bad weather starting tomorrow early morning. Here are some photos of my trip so far! Enjoy!

Haha! How wonderful to wake up within sight of the beach! So sorry you aren't feeling welI cuz knowing that the police were coming by occasionally might have otherwise provided a restful night. I took zincam for a couple of days and the symptoms seem to have passed. (or they're off somewhere regrouping...). Love the photos keep them coming!
