April 3rd, 2009

So after school Friday, I head to mine to finish packing and then I head to the train station. Since Jeff came to Nantes last weekend to see me I figured I needed to go see him in Poitiers. So I hop on my train and then head to St. Pierre des Corps. That's where I changed trains. It only took about 3 hours to get there, which wasn't too bad. I've been on 10 hour train rides before so I'm not going to complain. Jeff picks me up at the station and we walk around. Poitiers is SO much different from Nantes. I thought Jeff was exaggerating when he kept saying that last weekend, but he was right. Poitiers is so dense and compact. At one point on Friday I even asked Jeff if he ever feels closed in. I was totally feeling clausterphobic. I'm used to open areas and crossing a river everyday, it was just not like this at all in Poitiers. It was a really pretty town though, I enjoyed it. We went back to his place to make some dinner and I met his English roommate, Keeva. She's so hilarious and fun. She went with us to this one club where we were going to a Metronomy concert (look them up they are.............odd). Also, Jeff's Scottish friend Tam met up with us there too. The concert was really fun as was the rest of the night. These Poitiers people are crazy though. At one point I got talked into riding in a shopping cart, another time Tam jumped on the back of a garbage truck and tried to ride along with them. It was funny. The French guys had no idea what to do with this loud Scottish kid.

We slept in for a LONG time today. I think we woke up at noon. As I'm sure most of you know, I snore really bad, and Jeff HATES that, so I kept getting yelled at all night and woken up, so neither of us got much sleep. haha When we did wake up Jeff and I walked around the city some more. We saw the oldest Christian church in Europe as well as this baptistry that was from the 300's or something. Poitiers is full of history and tons of old stuff like that :). haha Then he took me to see a great view of the town. We had to walk up like 50 bazillian steps, it was awful. The view was nice though. It was the only time I was there where I felt I wasn't closed in. We did get to go to a park though and hang out with Tam and some more of Jeff's friends. There was a girl named Asia (pronounced Asha) and her bf Cody. They were both American. Then some Irish guys came and hung out. They never did introduce themselves to me, but I found out their names were Darragh and Timmy. I think. After sightseeing we just went back to Jeff's and hung out for a while. For some reason I was being really difficult about eating (go figure) and I was not satisfied with anything. I think it kind of annoyed Jeff. haha I ended up just eating some French fries and that's pretty much it. Oh well. Asia, Cody, and Tam come over and we head to this cocktail party thing that someone was having. We thought it was at a bar, but it was someone's apartment. We get there and call someone to let us in, and it turns out the people that we were supposed to meet there weren't there yet. We go upstairs anyways and it's a huge group of French guys. Asia and I were the only girls there and it was really uncomfortable and awkward. Plus I had to bisou a ton of people and we all know how much I love that. So we left there quite quickly and headed to some bar that they hate but always go to. It was kind of a slow night and we went home early and went to sleep. My bus left at 8am the next day so I probably needed some sleep.

So, I didn't get that much sleep again because of my snoring. This time Jeff actually put headphones on so he couldn't hear me. I felt really bad but it's not like I can help it. We wake up and he takes me to the bus station. I pretty much sleep the entire three hours to Nantes. It was awkward because it's a huge bus and I was the only one on it for 2 hours. I have no idea why. Oh well. I'm home now and I'm updating this, packing for vacation, and calling people. It'll be a nice slow relaxing day. :)
