It is always fun to try out different places to eat or sit and have a drink when we are in Montezuma.  The last time we were here we had an excellent dinner at Cocolores and so we decided to see if the food was still as good as before.  It was and the view was beautiful.  You are very close to the ocean and so you can see the waves crashing on the rocks on the shore.  It was a very enjoyable dinner and a real splurge.

Our regular favorite is the Montezuma restaurant which is at the end of the street in Montezuma.  There is usually a nice breeze, view of the ocean and a great place to watch people.  The food is good as well and reasonably priced.

On this trip we have indulged in fruit drinks at a "soda" across from the Montezuma.  We did this after we had done a hike and wanted to cool down before we made the trek up to Luna Llena.  Imagine if you will a cool drink of watermelon, pineapple and banana.  Yum, just what was needed to cool down.  It also help curb the hunger until the lunch could be made.

Of course, the real treat is to walk down the beach to Ylang Ylang , a hotel with a beautiful setting and dining area, the most upscale place we know about in Montezuma.  The restaurant is open to the public.

They offer yoga classes at varying levels according to the people we have talked to that have gone there.

We did not take part in the yoga classes but we did decide to treat ourselves to dinner there twice.  (We had two free air tickets from air miles offers, so we used that to rationalize ...  Oon most days we fixed our own breakfast and lunch,  but went out to dinner. )

By the time we walked down there in the early evening, the tide was coming in so we were on the lookout for those sneaker waves that could wash us out to sea!  There is a sign as you start to walk down the beach to be careful because there are rip currents.

The walk was lovely both evenings and there was still quite a bit of activity out on the beach.  People still lying on the beach, others fishing, and others just enjoying walking as we were.

The Ylang Ylang resort is set back from the beach and the dining area is where you can look out over the ocean and is quite romantic a setting.

The service is first class and the food was delicious both nights we ate there.  The setting is so beautiful and romantic !  You should go if you are in Montezuma!

On the way back we took the somewhat rough sand and caliche road through the edge of the bosque because  it seemed that it might be easier than walking back on the beach.
It was pretty dark and spooky in parts but we made it back to town without incident.  Adventure travel!
