Today we got up about 6:30am as we had to leave at 5:30am. I hovered about and felt really sickly, having trouble to even eat a banana for breakfast. I managed to get myself ready and we headed to the bus station.

We met Marketa at the bus station and we then went to board our bus. The bus was a big coach with all leather seats, tvs, free hot drinks and Czech reading materials. The movies on were all in English so that kept me busy. I watched 'The Time Traveller's Wife', 'Children of Men' and a bit of 'Atonement'. The bus ride was about 5 hours to Vienna but we had a stopover in Brno, close to the border of the Czech Republic. At Brno we quickly snuck away for a toilet and some food. We managed to find a bakery where a I got a lovely chocolate crossiant with gooey chocolate inside :). After eating this chocolate crossiant I surpringly felt a bit better (but most of the sick feeling had already passed).

When we arrived in Vienna we worked out the metro to take us to our hotel. We ended up walking down a long street to get to our hotel so we could look about on the way. When we reached our hotel we noticed it was a little one tucked away but we were surprised to see it had 7 floors! We were staying in two rooms on the first floor, snoring Baba in one and Marketa and I in the other :p.

We dropped our things off and headed down towards the city area close by. The buildings all around us were similar to those in Prague but much larger. We walked about and admired the beautiful Christmas decorations hanging overhead.

It was about 3pm so we decided to get some food and found a little cafe and grill place. I ended up trying a Weiner schnitzel which was pretty large and I ended up eating it all! I wasn't even hungry when we started but thought I should eat lol.

After eating we wandered about some more, got some hot wines and punch and headed towards a place with the main Christmas markets where there were rides and all sorts of little stalls. Behind all these stalls was a very impressive building that looked somewhat like a church.

After wandering around we went in search of a pub which we were meeting a man named Martin, who was married to my cousin Jitka and I met them both 10 years ago in Australia. We found the place after walking around the whole square and it being close by us to begin with. Us girls sat about, Baba and Marketa had some famous Vienna cake - sucher. The cake is like a chocolate cake with apricot jam in the middle layers. I had a little bit but it was really rich and I was still full from the schnitzel I ate. I got a soy dark chocolate macchiato which was like dessert anyway!

A little while later Martin met up with us at the pub. We sat and chatted for hours and soon enough it was about 9:30pm. Martin took us back to the hotel but we got a bit lost and he gave us a funny tour of the streets, for example "there is a large building with a ball on the top that some crazy artist made". It was good to see different things though that we wouldn't on the main streets. We found the hotel soon after and said our goodbyes.
