Hello again and maybe for the last time from Thailand. The five of us were here in Ko Phi Phi Don as i write this. Greg and Leslie left for Malaysia this morning, Cory and myself are here until tomorrow and Brett is staying a few more days. We had a huge sendoff/birthday bash for Greg and Les last night. Recovering today. These accumulative nights out are starting to kick us square in the teeth. I guess after five weeks, somethings gotta give. We are sleeping in longer and feeling like shite throughout the day. hahaha its so much fun though...when it comes midday(for us) around 17:00hrs we kick back into high gear and do it all over again. Though when we get home to Canada its detox time. Until then, we're here and we'll make the best of it.

Ko Phi Phi is a group of islands south/west of Krabi and east of Phuket. Its quite well known for being the place in Thailand that the tsunami effects was best captured by video. Most of you have surely seen it. After being to several places now thats been hit, Phi Phi was obviously hit pretty hard. Its crazy, the lay out of the island and village was so vulnerable to what happened that it is no wonder the place was almost completely destroyed. The small stretch of land where the main town site is, is flanked by oceans on both sides west to east. When the west ward wave hit, it just rolled over the village and continued onto the other side of the island, nothing to stop or slow it down. Everything was hit. Its kind of weird, as good as things look around here, more than a year later, you can still see after effects of what happened. Examples being palm trees torn off, buildings not yet repaired and various other visible damage. It will obviously take years for the land to recover. There are pictures and memorials set up on the beach to give tourists an idea of what occured.

Anyway beyond what i said earlier, the activities we have engaged in here on Phi Phi have been: taking an all day speed boat trip around the many islands in the area. Some water skiing, beaching, drinking, daily massages, sleeping, drinking some more, and basically just chilling out for the last few days here. We finished our diving in the Similan islands because we knew after that nothing would compare. Cory and i did some unbelievable climbing on the rocks of Railey beach in Krabi. Basically we are finished with activities that don't involve us being useless lumps of shit on the beach with beers in our hands. Its autopilot now, we leave to Phuket by boat tomorrow and then fly to Bangkok. In Bangkok we will do some last minute shopping and fill the backpacks, then on the third we'll reluctantly jump on the plane homeward bound. That's it thats all. Haines, you better have some work for me cuz i think i'll be needin it when i get back. hahaha

Hey thanks to everyone for checking in on the pod every once and a while. Cory and i had a blast on this trip, and i hope that the pod gives a bit of an idea of how good it has been. Anyway, gotta roll here but we'll see most of you soon. You can still post comments if you wish, i still check my mail everyday.

Cheers everyone,
