WHEN WE LEFT WRIGHTSVILLE TO RUN TO SWANSBORO WE HAD SEVERAL OBSTACLES.THE FIRST WAS THE WRIGHTSVILLE BRIDGE.IT IS A RESTRICTED BRIDGE THAT ONLY OPENS 7A-7P ON THE HR ONLY SO BOATS STACK UP BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH BOUND SIDES AND IT REALLY GETS TRICKY WHEN THERE IS COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC LIKE A BIG BARGE THAT REALLY COMPOUNDS THE PROBLEM.SO WHEN THE BRIDGE OPENS EVERYONE HAS TO COMMUNICATE TO EACH OTHER TO AGREE WHO GOES WHEN.THEN THERE IS ANOTHER RESTRICTED BRIDGE 20 MILES NORTH THAT ONLY OPENS ON THE HOUR SO YOU HAVE TO TIME YOUR RUN SO YOU DON'T GET THERE TOO SOON AND HAVE TO WAIT.YOU PASS BEAUTIFUL TOPSAIL BEACH AND  ALL THE HOMES ON THE OCEAN.THERE ARE SOME ISLANDS  THAT  HAVE GOATS AND SOME HAVE WILD BOAR YOU SEE ON THE SHORELINE.THE CAMP LEJUENE FIRING RANGE IS LOCATED ON THE ICW SO YOU CAN EITHER CALL AHEAD TO THE MILITARY POST OR THE FT MACON COAST GUARD WILL ANNOUNCE ANY ICW CLOSINGS FOR THE DAY  FOR LIVE FIRE MANEUVERS AT 530A OR 830P ON VHF CHANNEL 16.AS WE APPROACHED THE BRIDGE WE WERE GREETED BY A MARINE MILITARY PICKET BOAT WITH  SIX HANDSOME MARINES WHOM ESCORTED US THROUGH THE RANGE HOW COOL WAS THAT!!!!SWANSBORO IS ANOTHER ONE OF N.C. SMALL QUAINT LITTLE HISTORICAL TOWNS WITH THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE.THE HISTORICAL DOWNTOWN WAS ALL THE ORIGINAL 1800 BUILDINGS LIKE THE OLD TOWN PHARMACY WITH THE SODA FOUNTAIN,COUNTER AND STOOLS IT WAS REALLY NEAT TO SEE.WE SPENT THE DAY WALKING THE WATERFRONT PARKS,SHOPS AND OF COURSE  ENJOYING A HAND DIPPED ICE CREAM CONE.THE BOGUE BANKS AND SOUND ARE BEAUTIFUL DOTTED WITH SEVERAL ISLANDS TO CAMP AND EXPLORE.IT IS VERY SERENE HERE ,VERY RELAXING AND ENJOYABLE.OUR NEXT STOP WILL BE BEAUFORT,N.C.
