Today we had to have our luggage out by 5:15 a.m. and be ready to board the bus at 6:15 a.m.  A very early morning.  We had a 20 minute ride to the airport where we boarded our first flight for the day to Xian.

We arrived in Xian where the skies were beautiful and the temperature was in the low 70's.  Another wonderful day ahead of us.  We had about a 45 minute drive to the Terra Cotta Warriors & Horses Museum.  Along the way Violet, ourr local guide, shared with us much information on Xian and the Warriors.

After arriving at the Museum we went directly to the Tea House for Lunch which was catered by Starbucks. The food was great and we were able to have freshed brewed tea with our lunch.  After lunch it was off to see the Warriors.  We went to Pit 1 first and it was amazing.  There were so many warriors and horses located in this pit and different areas of the pit was at different levels of exploration.  They had an area identified as the hospital where they put the warriors back together.  We also were able to see the area where the first warrior had been located.  It was simply breathtaking!

We spent most of the day walking through all the pits and taking lots of pictures.  We also had to spend time in the gift shop.  We did make some purchases, although we won't see them for 60 days.  We bought two Terra Cotta Warrior replicas...a 3/4 size Archer and a 1/3 size General; plus a few small items.  We also got to meet the farmer who discovered the Terra Cotta Army 35 years ago!!!  He was signing books in the museum gift shop.

After finishing there we were off to the airport for another flight, this one to Guilin (pronounced "gwey- lin").  We are staying at the Hotel Of Modern Art (HOMA) for the next two nights.
