We decided we DID NOT want to drive into New Orleans. This is like being in L.A. with the traffic and the criss cross of highways. I will appreciate St. Pete from now on and even malfunction junction (in Tampa for my out of state friends) is not as bad as this. The alternative was to take the ferry. We had to drive about 12 miles to get there but then we could park the truck (for a $5 fee) and go by ferry which was free for walkers and bikes. Crossing the Mississippi, we were told that not many people that ever went in the Mississippi River came out alive. I'm sure that made Ben feel good since he can't swim.
We had reservations for brunch at the Court of Two Sisters Restaurant which I had dined at in 1973 (the only other time I've been here). I didn't realize how far it was to walk from the ferry to the restaurant so my sister had a really hard time getting there. There were over 80 items on the buffett and I could only try all the hot side of the buffett. Everything was wonderful and we spent 3 hours in there before we finally gave it up. We had to rest to have coffee and bananas foster and praline. The coffee was really good and I thought it might be Community which I use to order from New Orleans but it wasn't. The name......Try-Me and it's made in New Orleans.
After waddling out of the restaurant, we took a mule drawn carriage tour (the mule farted on Ben) and had beignets from Cafe Du Monde. The nice lady that took us on the tour gave us a ride back to the ferry so my sister wouldn't have to walk.
My sister asked about Voo-Doo and found out it was a religion and like any religion it can be used in a good or bad sense. Black magic is using Voo-Doo in a bad way and is actually called Hoo-Doo. The tour lady said the French Quarter was never flooded during Hurricane Katrina because it's 10 feet above sea level. The rest of the outer area is 10 feet below sea level and that's what flooded.

You are supposed to walk AFTER you eat. You all look pretty happy to be in that wagon though. Bet the food was wonderful.Tell your sister Voodoo involves worship of Satan and his demons and nothing good comes of that. (I happen to know someone who was baptized into Voodoo) Keep on having fun!
Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee both endorsed Richard. Election is Tuesday!
