Have just had two busy days in Geraldton.  We arrived quite early on Wednesday and did the chores like washing and shopping again.  Then had a quick look around the city.  It's the biggest place we've been in so far and we had to manage traffic lights and cars everywhere again.  Time to move on we think!  Once more the mining industry has upset our stay as this CP is very close to the trainline and they are even moving Iron Ore out of Geraldton by rail and truck, so of course they go all night too.  Today we visited St Francis Xavier Cathedral and the HMAS Sydney Memorial.  Both were excellent and we spent quite some time there.  We expected the memorial to have a guided tour (and planned our eight week holiday around being here today at 10:30am for it) but no guide arrived to give us the tour.  Never mind it was still very well done.  This afternoon we revisited Greenough Hamlet, which we thought was fantastic 28 years ago and (even though its almost the same) it was great today.  There are ten old buildings in the village which have been restored and maintained by the National Trust and you feel like you are walking back into the 1930ies or earlier.  Again a tribute to our amazing pioneers.  Same old beautiful weather to report, mind you the nights are extremely cold especially under canvas.  Tomorrow we visit Dongara and then head inland once more.  We're off the Mt Magnet, Sandstone and the gold mining areas. Just a matter of time and we will be home again.
