YEPPOON - July 27th - 30th, 2009

Headed towards Rockhampton, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, and headed down towards the coast to Yeppoon, about 40kms from Rocky.

We had been to Yeppoon a couple of times before, the last time about 13 years ago, when Rebekah Fisher was christened.  We were up this way for Paul & Sandra Fisher's wedding, and christenings of Caitlin and Rebekah.

We couldn't believe how it had grown over the years, but I think they call it progress.

We had actually seen quite a bit of this area, so we took the time to clean out all the dust, sand and dirt which had accumulated during our time in the outback and the Gorge.  Lots of washing, of course, and because they used grey water we could wash the car and van on the grass.  Also haircut time as well so it was all accomplished here.

We had a nice day out to Byfield National Park, and had lunch at Ferns Hideway, which is  where Paul & Sandra were married and we stayed in the cabins on the property at that time.  We enjoyed a delicious lunch out in the garden.  Also visited Nob Hill Pottery which is also in the Byfield NP but resisted the urge to buy anything, even though the pottery and Vietnamese Lacquer Ware was beautiful.

We met a lovely German couple in the Gorge, and they also then arrived in Yeppoon.  They were a lovely couple and very interesting.   Klaus caught some nice fish one day so he gave us enough for dinner, and it was delicious having freshly caught Whiting for dinner.

Kev has yet to wet his line, but I'm sure he will do some fishing at our next stop, which is the Town of 1770.

We also had dinner out at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club, which we also did last time we were here.  It was a lovely stay and the town and beaches are just beautiful.  Weather was also quite hot here as well.
