I've had to book my flights, get various visas (I think the idea of a visa is ridiculous, but apparently you kinda need them to get into some countries), set up new bank accounts, secure travel and medical insurance, get a phone that will work internationally and have my arm destroyed by all the immunization shots!
Needless to say, leaving will be harder than I had ever imagined... As if getting rid of my sweet NYC apartment
wasn't tough enough, actually moving out was a nightmare. Due to a mix up with the building (a.k.a. the management company being morons/jerks, yet again), I was forced to move out a day later than originally planned. After convincing the movers that it was actually going to happen this time around, I was in the clear... that is, if I could get everything out of the apartment and unloaded at my parent's house in Princeton, NJ in time to make my 4:30pm flight to Charlotte. With a little help from a friend and my supporting family, I rolled into EWR and onto the plane with just minutes to spare... and I was off to say adios to my friends down south!
It's been about 3 weeks since I finalized my decision to travel next year and I've been busier than ever scrambling to get myself organized. In addition to finding time to say goodbye to all my friends and family, which involved many a late night (or early morning as many of them were),
