Where I stayed
Aqua Blu Resort

The four of us arrived Saturday in the dark (sunset around 5pm local time) Went to check-in and Hotel reception asked us to stay for a night in a deluxe bungalow, as where they had for us was being cleansed after some rather obnoxious occupants according to receptionthey told which nationality but I'm being PC unlike them.

The bungalow had a bedroom and lounge so could sleep 4. We took this option, moving to our correct rooms at lunch on Sunday.  The rooms we occupy now are on the ground floor with patios to the North-East.  Unlike the bungalow these rooms are much quieter at 4:30am when the local Mosques call the locals to prayer.

The hotel is amazing with all it's water slides and rides, but even more impressive is it's customer service, not the usual Egyptian time responses any request for a repair a problem is handled immediately.  Food hygiene is excellent from what we saw all would pass the UK Basic Food hygiene Certificate and most would get the advanced certificate easily.  Outside the Aqua Park Entrance is a number of local style coffee shops and a Sports bar.

The hotel allows three local travel companies to sell trips within the hotel grounds all have comprehensive insurances and are very competitive compared to the travel companies that get folk there, in fact that was the only bad part of our holiday the Go Travel resort rep who failed to answer telephone calls and tried to infer that the hotel approved companies trips were inferior in all ways but then could not offer the same level of service.

The beach at the sister hotel is the usual gritty sand access down the cliff is in the impressive lift tower, then a walk down to the pontoon over the edge of the reef.  A snorkel swim from there is beautiful and popular with lots of boats and "submarines" using the area around the hotel reef.

We went on the following excursions

A PRIVATE Quads trip into the desert with just two of our party and a guide cost 20 each, where you are taken out for 3 hours without the usual convoy at the speed of the slowest customer. The only let down is the quality of their video --as usual in Sharm

A trip to Ghibli Raceway for go-karting which for 25 gave a 10 minute warm up qualifying  after a full briefing then a proper style 10 lap race on the 800m track all with print-outs to show your prowess which saw Stephanie qualify in 8th but finish the race 3rd.  We will be watching the TV in december as the world Karting Championships are there on the 1400m track.  As a photographer I got to spectate free from the balcony so got ecellent pictures which was a good job as the offer from the professional in house worked out at 35

We obviously took advantage of the sister hotels beach for snorkelling and the Public access beach down Sea Road to see the absolutley beautiful sealife, which is why most people visit Sharm but get ripped off by their travel reps selling boat trips to the same place we went for silly prices.
We did notice that the Aqua Park is open to outsiders and it will cost you LE295 (25) a day to get in

Ok the nitty gritty of the hotel
Aqua Blu Resort

Also known as the Pickalbatros Aqua Blu

Also Aqua Park

It is located at Hadabet Um El Sid, Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai

The hotel has 504 rooms consisting of double, connected, family, suites, large and small bungalows giving the hotel 850 beds.

The resort has 32 waterslides and 9 fresh water outdoor pools which it claims all are heated, and a lagoon with free Gondola rides. These cover 30acres and hold over a million gallons of fresh water.

There is also fitness room, volleyball, and some other entertainment free of charge, the hotel says there are 50 shops but I've not counted. There is also a Spa, hairdressers and four tour companies offering scuba, go-karting, and the usual quads trips into the desert. Also there are 2 banks and also an ATM for you to get at your cash.
There are numerous WiFi access points these are only available at a charge (3.70 a half hour) but outside the Aqua Park gate is the Champion bar and for the price of a pint (1.30) they have free WiFi.
Whilst the hotel doesn't have its own beach, its sister hotel the Albatros Beach does and it is either a 10 minute walk or a 5 minute shuttle bus ride (shuttle runs every 1/2 hour).
There are four restaurants for All Inclusive and a food-court with 5 styles of food for a charge.  The main restaurant "Cave du Roi" and The Asiatic restaurant (Indian & Chinese) open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Mediterranean restaurant also opens at 1am for early breakfast (01:00 - 07-00) and the Italian restaurant serves late breakfast (10:00 - 12:00)
The bars are La Charlot (lobby bar) open 24 hours but no alcohol between midnight and 10:00
Goofy bar 10:00 -21:00
Elephant bar 10:00 - 17:00
Salsa bar 12:30 - 17:30 & 20:00 - 23:30
La Cannell bar 10:00 - 24:00
Club House 11:00 - 24:00
Cowboy bar & disco 00:00 - 02:00

At the Albatros Beach (the Aqua Blu sister hotel) there is one bar that is available for AI guest and that is on the beach the Sunset bar 10:00 - 17:00

The hotel animation team works very very hard during the day (the hotel even has its own kids club) working 7 days a week then they put on set shows each evening which are all very professional compared to most Sharm hotel shows.  The entertainers are from Egyptian the UK and Russia all are multilingual and are a set of really mad characaters.
