No sooner did we arrive home from a week in Vancouver did we have to quickly unpack our city clothes and find and load things for your trip the next morning to the Rockies. We spent a week quickly using up the earnings from our renting our house during Ironman going to the P.N. E, Cirque du Soleil, Whitecaps Soccer game etc.  We had packed a lot of fun into a short period of time and then driving back to Summerland on August 31st it began to sink in that we were had a lot to figure out by morning.

Since we had rented our house, all of our personal belongings we pack out of side and therefore we had to find them and then pack them for our bike trip.  The kids were phenomenal for not really knowing what they were getting themselves into. I stayed as positive as I could while in my mind figuring out and anticipating every conceivable aspect of this trip.

I wanted everyone to get as much sleep as possible (as it may be harder to come by in the days to come) so while I was up at 5am doing last minute adjustments  I let everyone sleep until 6:30 when we shuttled everyone into the cold dark van that we packed the night before

Of course I knew the tarps that I packed and covered everything with would come in handy as it was raining and continued to rain most of the day.  I kept thinking to myself "if our sleeping foamies got wet we are 'hooped'".  But there was no turning back now…………

We drove and drove and drove and what was to be about a 9 hour drive for some reason turned into a 11-12 hour drive …..but who counts after 10 hours in a van with 4 kids and 2 adults (oh yeah and a dog)?

We set up camp our first night at Whistlers Campground Jasper National Park.  Whistlers Campground is located in the Rocky Mountains near the South end of the Jasper town site across the highway from the Wapiti Campground. This campground is one of the largest with 604 sites.
