It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to Monika and Paulina.  We have had a fantastic time with them here in Morelia, thanks so much for hosting us, showing us around and translating everything.

Last night Monika's friend Onel Peralta had us over for a wonderful Mexican dinner of burritos, he spoke no English but his son & wife did and we learned all kinds of things about the area.  Apparently this state of Michoacan has the most number of people trying to get to the U.S.A or actually living there.  The government has a campaign to try to dissuade people from doing the whole jump the border thing because it's so dangerous and many are dying.  However, low wages and bad living conditions here keep people trying to go for a better life in the US.  Everyone you meet here have relatives in the US most having been smuggled across the border.  We also learned that a new vehicle here costs as much as buying a descent home but people go for the car instead of the house.  I think because the vehicle is more a status symbol.

Raymond is at the store trying to buy enough food for the 28 hour bus ride to Cancun tomorrow.  I am sure we will survive.  See you in Cancun!
