New Year in Sydney.
We meet up with some old friends from home to celebrate New Year with the fireworks at the harbour bridge (with the aid of a small amount of alcohol) we had a fab time.
Our friends then took us on a week's tour around the places that we wouldn't have found on our own. (They lived in Sydney some years before) Thanks again John and Nessie you are great guides.
We then hired a car and set off for the Blue Mountains, what a stunning area and only a short drive from Sydney.
After a few days of hiking/photo taking, we ventured further inland to Dubbo.
Well Dubbo's is very much a factory/farming town whose main/only attraction is a zoo.
We did however find out that there was an amateur astronomer who held nightly observations of the southern sky (as there is almost no light pollution in Dubbo the visibility is excellent), well we were very impressed at seeing the rings of Saturn, comets, the moon close up, satellites etc.
To be continued........
