Last night I went all over Cairo, and got to see an Islamic dance show which featured some really great whirling dervishes. I only really knew about the Sufi dervishes in Turkey and these were much more colorful, kind of like human versions of Tilt-A-Whirls.

Basically, the whirling is a form of worship, a form of meditation. These men put themselves into trances while they dance and spin around without ever getting dizzy. And really, they don't get dizzy... they'll spin for what seems like ten hours and then will stop on a dime and just walk off the stage. Meanwhile, you feel dizzy watching them.

Now, if you've never tried to get a good photo of a whirling dervish... let me just tell you it's not easy. Because... see... they're WHIRLING. So I remembered that my camera is supposed to take video, but I've never done that. So this was an experiment. And now that I know it works? I'm kind of excited to see what else I can video. It was fun!

Let me know if you have any problems viewing the stuff, ok? Like I said, this is an experiment. I tried to take a bunch of videos and not make them too long. Didn't want it to take forever to view them.

Trying to update the other stuff about Egypt but I may have to do it in Turkey. I can't believe I'm leaving tomorrow. Even weirder... I can't believe I've still got so many weeks to go. It just seems crazy that I'm doing this. Yes, not just to you... to me too. ;)

Sweet.
Nice!

Vegas needs a show like that. Of course we'd screw it up; They would have to be topless women, and GnR's 'Welcome to the Jungle' would have to be playing in the background and... on second thought maybe we shouldn't.
