The breakfast menu was really confusing us. Once again Terry was offered choices from the complete menu so had fruit, toast, butter and jam, two fried eggs on toast, a bowl of museli and a yoghurt and as much tea as he could stomach (see photo).
During breakfast we tried to make conversation with another couple who we had seen a few mornings and after the customary nod, Terry said in a very loud voice 'What are your plans for today then?' but they didn't even acknowledge that they had heard, so he had to pretend he was asking me, so as not to lose face.

After breakfast we felt it was time to make a decision about what to do next, in terms of where to go. I had sent an email to a hotel in Kata, Phuket, as felt we should be working our way back up to Bangkok in order to be nearer to fly out on 28th, but had not received a response. We both loved Koh Lanta and having read reviews on the rest of the Islands, did not feel we would get the same restful opportunities elsewhere but at the same time, wondered if we were being narrow minded by staying.

Terry wandered down to reception to see how much longer our room was available and was told up to 19th March, then we would have to move to another room for two days, then move on to a more expensive room. It was all getting too confusing so we decided to take the bike out for a spin to give ourselves time to think.

We drove the bike to the south of the island and stopped for a bite to eat and a drink at the Castaway Beach Resort. We both liked the fact that the accommodation offered at this resort was in beach huts and that it offered a pool as well as being right on the beach. What also appealed to us was that it had shady areas to sit in and a restaurant and bar on site. Terry decided to see whether they had any vacancies.

Unfortunately they didn't but said that a nearby resort may have, so we wandered around there. Not quite as nice as Castaway but offering the same experience, Terry asked whether we could see a chalet. Although basic, the chalet was clean with air con and a fridge, so we decided we would have a look on Agoda when we got back to the hotel to see whether they had any vacancies.

Back at the hotel we were able to see that the resort did have capacity, so we booked a chalet from 19th to 27th March. Narrow minded or not, we were staying in Koh Lanta.

At around 16:30 we walked over to the beach and parked our bums on two deck chairs. We had a couple of beers and stayed there to watch the sunset again.

After freshening up we decided to bike it down to another restaurant high on the Trip Adviser review list; May's Kitchen. The owners were a guy from Dublin who built the restaurant and serves behind a make shift bar and his Thai partner, May, who did the cooking.
May's Kitchen offered more of a street food experience than most of the eateries we had frequented since being in SE Asia. We were seated on a small concrete table and chairs almost out on the street and the food was cooked in front of us in a very basic kitchen. The food tasted good considering the cost but we decided not to return another night. It was all a bit 'come on you ex pats' and we felt, as fellow brits, there was a slight expectation that we would sing along to the ' Now Thats What I Call Music 24' once we had finished our meal.

We got back to the hotel at around 21:30. I had been feeling a little under the weather and terribly homesick most of the day, probably because it was Mothers Day, so was thrilled to be able to speak to Caz, Steve, Andrew and Amy on the Skype before settling down for the night.
