After two busy days and early starts we had a lay in until 09:45, had our breakfast of banana cake, mango and strawberry cake and croissant down in the courtyard of 'My Mum Home'.

We spent a couple of hours weighing up our options for onward destinations down in the covered courtyard with copious cups of tea. We decided that we would visit Laos and considered various options of transit. Neither of us really relished the idea of the three day/two night option, as had heard horror stories of the night stay in Pakbeng. The flight costs around £150 each but would get us there in a hour - decisions, decisions.....

We got an idea of costs, so set out to the city to see what some of the agents might be able to offer. Most of the agents were able to get us a better price for the flight; there is only one a day to Luang Prabang. All agents offered us the three day/ two night option but also advised of a two day option, where the first day we would travel by mini van via Nan to Muang Ngean (Laos checkpoint) and then overnight in a small B&B. The following day we would finish the journey by minibus and slow boat. We liked the sound of this and asked for the price; the agent started at 1900B each but then immediately dropped to 1750B. We said we would think about it and set off for a few other agents to compare the market.... We stopped by another two or three tour companies that offered the same options for the same price, we couldn't seem to negotiate below 1700B, this appeared to be the baseline for all the agencies. Eventually we booked two tickets at the Am Cool Travel Agency. We would be leaving for Luang Prabang on 04th Feb and be picked up from My Mum Home between 08:00 - 08:30.

We didn't really do much for the rest of the day apart from stopping in various eateries for smoothies and snacks. In the evening we once again visited the Vikiy Sist cafe ( that we have since learned is in fact Vigiy Sist) and were warmly welcomed by the more madder of the sisters. Once again we bought banana cake a huge croissant for breakfast tomorrow.

Back at 'My Mum Home' we flicked through the TV channels searching for any channel speaking English. We ended up watching an American film called Pineapple Express. Although a tad violent in places, it did make us laugh.
