Flag of Argentina  , Obelisk,
Thursday, December 13, 2012

So after a 2 hour delay and an epic wait for her bag Sara finally made it through to arrivals (that is a mere 6 hours after I got through to arrivals...in which time I had researched Argentina, slept on a bench like a hobo, had a burger for breakfast and generally mooched about!). We felt it important to get the trip off to a good start so after confirming that we had a shuttle to our hostel we hit the bar!

The hostel turned out to be nice enough and a bargain price for the centre of the city (we think, but having not seen a map we are not certain!). There was a lovely girl at the 'travel agent desk' who helped us with a bit of planning where we want to go and how to do it...looks like there are some long bus rides to come!

The afternoon was spent exploring the city (which is beautiful and we have decided is like a combination of new York, Paris and Spain!) the architecture is stunning and I just couldn't stop taking pictures! The shopping is great and we managed to snag a couple of bargains from the street sellers to include a couple of leather belts which the lady made while we waited and some dubiously branded sunnies! one of the most comedy events of the day was Sara trying to buy a pillow in a shop that only apparently had pillows on display and not for sale!

There was some kind of protest through the streets so there were cops everywhere and even a film crew at one point...not sure what it was about but it was nice to feel involved!

We chilled out in our room after the shopping extravaganza...I was so pleased to get out of my shoes and off my feet that I nearly cried (but obviously didn't!). The shower in our room is rubbish with about 5 bits of water coming out of it BUT it was the best shower I have ever had...after 3 flights, airport sleeping and a day of sightseeing and shopping!

Pizza and beer for tea and we were incredibly impressed with ourselves for staying awake until 10pm!!!!!
