Geckos tour - Desert Nile & Dahab.
I have a group of 6. Melissa & Christian - a young Aussie couple starting out there 2yr OE and heading for Ireland. Helen & Richard - Melissa's parents. Jill - My US roomie. Our Tour Leader's name is Shady - by name and character.
I arrived in Cairo about 12.30am. After a sleep I wake up to explore the town. It appears I am the only tourist in our district and one of few women on the streets. After a grocery stop, emails and photo shop I return to my room. Felt very overwhelmed. Cairo has 16mil people and is a very dirty, noisy city not catering for ladies. I was going to check my photos and bank in the internet cafe but was intimidated being the only girl with about 15 teenage boys in an overcrowded room. I felt they were all watching, looking over my shoulder. I realised this wasn't paranoia when when young man bought to my attention I had left the caps lock on! They were reading as I typed!
DAY 2 We headed off to Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza and Valley Temple of Cepheren. There are 3 Pyramids the great belonging to the Father with his wife tomb in the shadow but more ornate. Their Son's 10mt lower then the Grandson's much smaller. Most impressive but the interior we were allowed to few was just a plain tomb no decorations on walls. Jill and I take a walk about town and get ripped off for a coffee paying LE18! Most only LE5. It was the Sheraton though as couldn't find any other with women! Just men hanging out drinking Turkish coffee smoking cigs and shisha.
