April 17, 2012

Good Evening! My name is Lydia and I am a Senior at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For my third and final co-op I received a scholarship called the Vidalakis Co-op in Crete allowing me to spend the next several months working and studying in Crete, Greece. After many months of preparation, I finally depart tomorrow eveing! I am packed, the list has been checked twice and I am starting to realize that these months of preparation are finally coming to fruition. Therefore, I am very excited to begin my adventure!

But first, a few background details for you

I will be working as a Marketing Assistant for Terra Creta S.A. Terra Creta is an olive oil producer and distributor, caring for the olive from its initial seeding to when it is placed on the shelf at the market. They take incredible pride in their product and strive to uphold the integrity of the olive through production and processing. Their philosophy is one of sustainability and quality. As such, I am both honored and thrilled to be joining their team, if even temporarily. The company headquarters are located in Kolymvari, Crete, just 6 miles away from Chania, Crete, the second largest city on the island.

As I leave the country tomorrow, my family and I had a little gettogether with some close friends this evening. Therefore, I will end this entry with a picture of a wonderful homemade fruit tart that was dessert!
