So, we have done quite a lot since the first installment, we have been so busy that we havn't had a chance to update you, so here goes:

We left New York last thursday and got a 4 hour greyhound bus to Washington d.c. When we arrived at our hostel we got a very friendly welcome from just about everyone who was there. It wasn't really like a hostel, it was more like a home and lots of the people there seemed to be permanent guests. The place was like a typical American house with loads of floors and a huge basement and balconies at the back. That night we had a few drinks in the garden with some of the other guests and then sat down infront of the TV to watch the basketball (LA Lakers vs Boston Celtics - a big rivallry we were told!).

The next day we were up early and went to arlington cemetary where nearly 300 thousand US servicemen are buried. Then we walked over to the lincoln memorial and saw other washington sights such as the reflecting pool and the white house. We stopped for lunch which consisted of a chilli dog (typical american cusine!) and then decided to look at some of the galleries as washington has loads and all are free!. We went to the air and space museum first which was pretty impressive, and then went to the sculpture garden which had a huge fountain in it where we sat with our legs in the water (absolute bliss after the amount of walking we managed to cram into a week) and listened to the live jazz that was playing. very nice!

In the evening we chilled out on the balcany of the hostel as we had an early morning fligh and ordered a HUGE 16inch pizza for only 8 dollars (about four pounds), good stuff! For once anna ate more than luke which made Luke feel like a girl and hang his head in shame!

More to follow soon! xx
