Although we blogged only yesterday, we had such a special day today that we absolutely had to share it with you. We got up and the sun was shining, the sky was an amazing blue colour and we had the feeling we were in for something special. After breakfast served at the hotel (buns and cereal) we had to duck into a supermarket to buy some shampoo and conditioner. This gave us plenty of time to follow our plan and take a gondola ride so went scouting the city for a charming and friendly gondola driver. It was by far the best thing that we have done so far on the trip. It was just so relaxing and peaceful, as you can see by the many photos and videos that we have taken. We heightened the experience by treating ourselves to a small bottle of vino (wine) and a beer for the journey. Our guide was great telling us all about the historic buildings and churches of Venice, he also sung us a song or two opera style. Of course time flies when you're having fun and the journey was over before we knew it. But the high of the experience lasted all afternoon as we strolled around Venice and made the most of our last day, storing as much as we could in our memory. We happened upon the 'best book store in the world’ apparently so the sign said, and bought some brilliant post cards. We have just gotten back from dinner which was also fantastic and we’re wondering if anything is going to compete with Venice. Today is going to be tough to beat.

Wow - firstly, both your photography skills are fabulous. Both Wendy & I were in awe of your photo's of Venice - what a great way to waste some time at work !! It is really interesting to hear your fabulous, and colorful tales. Jealousy continues, however your stories transport me back to my visits to these places - and that is just as delicious !! Have a chianti & pizza for me ! xx Lyndal
