It was a great pleasure to visit my special friend Alexey and his partner Hedio.
Brasilia always impresses me, even though I found it a bit to square and orderly - specially after living 6 years in chaotic London!
I would like to highlight that nothing compares to the beauty of the sky of Brasília!!
It is the most beautiful sky I have seen so far...
If I happenend to be a proud Brazilian, now I am VERY proud: what a beautiful capital we have!
The trip to Chapada dos Viadeiros was fabulous. The road is excellent, the weather was good and São Jorge was a lovely place to stay.
On Friday night we went to some natural hot ponds in nearby Morro Vermelho. São Jorge was not busy at all, so we managed to stay alone in the ponds most of the time - staring at the wonderful sky and admiring the beauty of Via Lactea. The water was a pleasant 38 degrees and so clear we could see our feet even with the dim start lights. On our way back to the village we were lucky enough to sight the timid Lobo Guará. It was a nice suprise to watch the canine strolling along the dirt road.
Saturday we arranged a guide to take us to the park and after a 2 hour trek we arrived at the most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen. It had a 120 meters drop and the volume of water was quite impressive. We continued then to another fall further up stream where we could swim in a large pond with dark waters full of small fish. The pond was below another impressive fall - 80 meters high. We had the time of our lives - swimming naked in this paradise just for ourselves!!
On Sunday we headed back to Brasilia and stopped at Vale da Lua where we were amazed by the strange beauty of some interesting rocks carved by centuries of rain and river flow.
São Jorge and Chapada dos Veadeiros is worth at least a week so you can fully appreciate and enjoy the beauty of a prestine stretch of Brazilian savana. I cannot wait to go back!
