Tues (6th) I went for a walk that morning out to try and see a seal colony but the weather had really turned and to be honest I didn't really enjoy it that much. I met with Liz that afternoon - we were due to go out whale watching at 3pm. However, I had just been in the lounge of my hostel where a guy had just come back from the morning trip looking decidedly worse for wear. Apparently there wasn't a single person on board who hadn't thrown up and they weren't allowed on deck as it was too dangerous. Great. Suffice to say our trip was cancelled. I could have hung around for another day to see it the weather picked up but I wasn't really in the mood and figured I'd have a chance to see whales in Canada, hopefully for a little less, so decided that Tues would be my last night in Kaikoura. Again, went out for a couple of drinks that night, but nothing much, and just ended up watching a soppy movie back at the hostel.
Apologies for the lack of photos for this entry, but as you can see, there wasn't much point.
