Well, I've let this fall behind which should be good news for you poor souls reading this drivel as I've probably forgotten loads and so the next few entries should be pretty short. On the other hand, I may just ramble...

Ok, so landed in Christchurch on Thursday 1st December and I think we just spent the day sleeping. Oh, the highlight of this day was the Thai Green Curry I had for $8. Not bad.

Friday (2nd) I just wandered around the city, which is pretty small, but has quite a quaint feel to it and does remind me of home in some places, especially around the river. Oh yeah, I went for a walk along the river with the intention of ending in the botanical gardens (I seem to love these) but was actually walking in the wrong direction, and it took a good hour for it to click and for me to turn around. Nay mind, it was all quite scenic, so not a big loss and the gardens were gorgeous. I also went to the old Christchurch university, part of which had an excellent exhibition on Ernest Rutherford (the guy who split the atom). Wandered round there for a fair while playing with all the interactive gadgets and stuff. Had a ball.
I think it was this night that we decided to hit the town. After a fair few drinks at the hostel we went in search of a karaoke bar and we weren't disappointed. Liz and I ended up 'singing' (I use the word loosely, you understand) Natasha Bedingfield's 'These Words' and then I did a solo - Sheryl Crow's 'The First Cut Is The Deepest' - a vast improvement on my horrific attempt at 'Rescue Me' back in Thailand a few years ago. So a grand night was had by all and we staggered home in the wee hours.

Sat (3rd) Liz and I went to Hamner Springs, which were around an hour and a half's drive northwest of Christchurch and spent the day nursing our hangovers. Think we had a quiet one that night back in Christchurch.
