We saw more parts of windmills being transported today! more propellers, which makes a total of 12 and then some bases :D super cool.
Also, Oregon doesnt have self serve gas, they have people that do it for you. Which is ok until you're at a gas station trying to pay with an australian card and they require you to put a 5 digit zip code in. then the gas attendants get confused and you have to go in to pay which would have been the first thing we'd have done if it was self serve. So its kinda dumb.
We drove to Portland today and it was cold and windy and threatening to rain. We probably went to the wrong side of portland because it wasnt as nice as everyone says it is, although we're kind of over cities now. We just want to hit the coast and relax in the sleepy little towns, so that probably turned us off Portland a bit, which is a shame. We only ended up staying for an hour or 2 and then went up to Cannon Beach. It was quite a touristy little town but had a really huge seastack just off shore which was cool. Camping was quite expensive though, so we drove 17 miles down the road to Nehalem Bay state park and set up camp there. It was quite nice, pretty much right on the beach. We considered watching the sunset but it was too cold and cloudy and windy so we saved it for another night.
We had eaten dinner at Cannon Beach. We went to the little restuarant near the visitors centre which Jo had suggested to us, but we didnt get the salmon which she said is awesome, but the fish and chips and clam chowder was great!
We went to bed and it was nice until it rained. The ultimate test of waterproofing...it was good, until it got heavy, and even then it was still not bad...just a little leaking at the seams...no more than what we get from condensation really. Tom doesnt exactly fit in the tent though, his head and feet touch the ends so he got a bit wet. hmm
