So it gets really cold at night, after arriving yesterday and it being stinking hot we went to bed with just our blankets and summer pj shorts and singlet, not enough clothing! Between being uncomfortable and cold i think we woke each other up about 10 times. Lesson learned for tonight. Need more clothing for bed. We got up and had some brekky and then hit the road to Yosemite! Its simple, get back on the highway and follow it all the way there, so nothing went wrong this time and we didn't even need Gerry. We got to the entrance and went over to Mariposa Grove to see some Giant Sequoias! And yes, they were very giant. Amazing huge beautiful trees. We took the tram tour up and around the whole lower and upper groves and saw all the landmark trees, then we got off at the Californian Tunnel tree and the grizzly tree and walked back to the parking lot. I got to hug part of the Californian Tunnel trees root, I was verrrry small compared to even just that root. If only Kate Paull was there to hug trees with me! All the giant trees that didn’t have tunnels through them you weren’t allowed to go near because trampling of the roots weakens them and they have such shallow root systems that they could just topple over with too much trampling. So we stayed behind the fences...There were a lot of people who didn’t though. Tsk tsk.

We thought about driving up to the Yosemite Valley and village but it was already 2pm and was another hours drive there and then back and Tom has to do lots of driving tomorrow, so we decided just to go back to camp. We stopped at the Sugar Pine Railroad along the way and had a look around, We’d missed the last train of the day by an hour so that was disappointing but oh well. We went back to camp and cooked the rest of the pasta and sauce so that it didn’t go off (since you’re meant to refrigerate after opening and we didn’t have a fridge or even an eski) and had pasta for lunch! It was just as tasty as last night.

We went for a walk down to Bass Lake and watched some kids fishing and some people jetskiing and just enjoyed the view for a while and then went to the Forks restaurant for dinner and had a famous Forks Burger! They were cheap burgers and quite tasty, so dinner was under $15 for Tom and I combined. Thats what i like J cheap dinners. We were going to stay up and see some stars but it was taking too long to get dark, so we went to bed instead, then tom got up in the middle of the night and the sky was still blue so there were no stars anyway. We were warmer tonight though J
