We went to the zoo today!
They had lots of FUN animals. We started at the flamingos and they were all sitting on eggs :) we stayed a while in hope of some eggs hatching but it didnt happen :(

Next we did the monkey trail and we saw lots of different types of monkeys and apes, it was pretty early in the morning so some of them were eating brekkie but alot were still sleeping. The gorillas were fun to watch though, the big daddy one was sitting right against the glass so that there was probably an inch between him and us, it was very cool, almost like you could touch him, and they all have such attitude and personality, what a great animal to have evolved from. We also went back to see them later and the little one was sitting on the daddys head, because he was lying down. It looked quite inappropriate haha funny.

We went to see if we could find the tiger, but he was pacing up the top near the area where he gets fed obviously so we didnt see him very well, even when we went back later to see him again he was still up the top :(

The pandas are one of the main attractions at the zoo and they make a very big deal out of them. We were lucky in that one of them was actually up and about when we went past so we actually got to see some action, most other people just see them sleeping or maybe eating sometimes.

Another big attraction is the elephants, and they have a MASSIVE home, it was good to see that they had so much space, and they need it because there were about 10 of them, a lot more than most zoos. On that note though, most zoos in Australia have 2 or 3 animals in each exhibit, there were a lot of exhibits here that just had 1 animal (like the tiger and hippo) so thats sad because they have no friends to play with :(

We really liked the turtles, there were so many turtles! and We even saw a legless lizard, quite a bit bigger than our pink tail worm lizards though haha.

The orangutans were our favourite though, there was one called Karen for starters :P haha mum. She was rolling around on the ground all morning, and wrestling with the little tot. they were very entertaining. And well looked after! One of the orangutans had a hole in its heart, so it actually had keyhole surgery by normal heart surgeons to keep it alive! How special is that.

So we had a fun day at the zoo, finished it off with a skyfari ride, Tom was scared haha!! I loved it. Probably shouldnt try to stand up while on it though, it was a bit rocky.
